Stools Get a Makeover

This little footstool and bar stool had seen their day but my client appreciated their practical use.

She wanted to keep them after moving and redoing her kitchen because she “used them all the time.”

Their styling needed to match the new décor.

The goal was to find a way to incorporate the patterns and decorative floral motifs in the new curtain and cushion fabric.

I found a solution by mimicking the strié finish on one fabric for the footstool and then adding some hand painted flowers.

The bar stool was more complicated because of the intricate pattern work that took longer than expected to paint.

First they got a clean, bright, white and shiny base coat. This set the stage to showcase all the decorative work.
