My name is Ashley Spencer. I grew up in New Orleans, LA, so I’m a Southern girl at heart; even though, I live just outside of the political town of Washington, DC — in Old Town, Alexandria, VA — and I met my RI native husband, Peter, while we were attending The University of the South, in Sewanee, TN, so maybe I’m somewhat of a rebel too.
I’m an artist, wife and mother of two adult sons. I started my illustration business, The Occasional Palette over 35 years ago, when my oldest son was an infant. Once my children were in school, I began painting decorative, faux finishes and murals through my second business, Casart, now over 20 years old. This has been extended into my third business, Casart Coverings — custom, designer wallcoverings that are removable and reusable, with coordinating furniture and decor.
