…in butterflies that is. These transparent butterflies are beautiful and since I like butterflies<\/a> and one is part of my Casart coverings logo<\/a>, here are some unusual ones that I didn't know about to view. If we ever make it to Panama (on the places to travel list), I'll know what to keep my eyes peeled for.<\/p>\n

\n\tTRANSPARENT BUTTERFLY<\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

\tIt comes from Central America and is found from Mexico to Panama. It is quite common in its zone, <\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong>
\n\tbut its not easy to find because of its transparent wings, which is a natural camouflage mechanism. <\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

\tA butterfly with transparent wings is rare and beautiful. As delicate as finely blown glass, the presence of this <\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong>rare tropical gem is used by rain forest ecologists as an indication of high habitat quality and its demise <\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong>
\n\talerts them of ecological change. Rivaling the refined beauty of a stained glass window, the translucent wings <\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong>of the Glasswing butterfly shimmer in the sunlight like polished panes of turquoise, orange, green, and red.<\/span><\/font><\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

'God's Artistic Hand At Work'<\/span><\/font><\/b><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

Michelle Obama has some association with butterflies. She has helped paint  a mural that is at the Marie Reed Learning Center in Adams Morgan<\/a>, part of the DC public school system. She filled in a butterfly within a garden mural — helping to simultaneously promote education as well as healthy living\/eating (with her vegetable garden in mind).<\/p>\n

While I'm on anything related to DC and the current administration, my heart goes out to those folks in Louisiana and Mississippi dealing with the unfortunate BP oil leak, just when they are finally getting back on their feet after Katrina. They do not need another disaster. It's  a horrible situation and now the Coast Guard is getting involved. Hopefully that will help but may be too little too late.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
