and Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post brings several aspects of engineering together with relation to art.<\/p>\n<p>1) Teaching art and creativity can be done through &#8220;<a title=\"Reverse Engineering art teaching\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bartelart.com\/arted\/reverse.html\" target=\"_blank\">Reverse Engineering<\/a>&#8221; &#8212; thinking backwards from the final product on how the artist created\/constructed it and his or her creative process in the making to improve upon, rather than copying the object or artwork.<\/p>\n<p>2) Reading about Tony May&#8217;s work on <a title=\"Tony May's work on ArtShift San Jos\u00e9\" href=\"http:\/\/artshiftsanjose.com\/?p=619\" target=\"_blank\">ArtShift SanJos\u00e9<\/a>, made me think of the engineering needed to construct his sculptures, some of which are made with <a title=\"Previous post on engineering art books\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ashley-spencer.com\/ArtIsEverywhere\/?p=1965\" Adams obit\" href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2009\/04\/11\/AR2009041101772.html\" target=\"_blank\"> George Adams<\/a> was an engineer and a self taught artist, who helped restore many murals in the US Capitol. I&#8217;ve long believed this! On a side note: I recently introduced my younger son to Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain to help him &#8220;break down \/ decipher&#8221; basic drawing skills and my older son is practicing the art of innovation by solving problems daily as a civil engineer intern with Clark Construction this summer. Great opportunities for both boys.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that <a title=\"Luke Jerram on ABC News Person of the Week\" href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/WN\/public-pianos-everyday-person-piano-man\/story?id=11016335\" target=\"_blank\">ABC News chose Luke Jerram as their Person of the Week<\/a> last Friday, due to his public art installation, <a title=\"Play Me I'm Yours Exhibit info\" href=\"http:\/\/www.streetpianos.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Play Me I&#8217;m Yours<\/em><\/a>.
