Look closely to see what is hidden. I recently learned about Emma Hack, the Australian artist through the blog Existing Visual<\/a> (from previous Wednesday’s post<\/a>) and I was surprised to learn that body painting can be taken to the next level with her wonderful talent. See her website<\/a> for more mesmerizing images.<\/p>\n

Her art is pretty remarkable, particularly her pattern work. I can’t help but love the blue butterflies, since it’s my signature image. The fact that the body becomes so invisible or integrated within her intricate artwork reminds me of Liu Bolin’s work<\/a>. Another body painting artist who I’ve mentioned is Alexa Meade<\/a>. She uses the body more as a canvas for abstract and bold visible brushwork. In her work, the body becomes the painting; whereas, in Bolin and Hack’s work, the body envelops and nearly disappears into the background.<\/p>\n

Missing<\/em> by Everything But the Girl<\/a>, <\/em>a 90’s favorite, seems so appropriate for this post both in name and to Kick Start the Weekend<\/a>.<\/p>\n
