Segueing from political caricatures to art found in federal buildings, I thought this piece from the Kansas City infoZine<\/em> would be appropriate to post, since these buildings are right in my backyard.<\/p>\n

Audrie Garrison does a great job of describing where to find federal art in her article, Hidden Treasures Reside in Some D.C. Federal Buildings<\/a><\/em>. There are a lot of links to walking tours and travel info that even the local resident can use. Which buildings have murals and public art and how they can be visited is also posted. Don’t forget to see the mural inside the Capitol’s Rotunda. I remember going on a field trip with my son and actually walking inside the dome to view it up close. What a great opportunity. This would have been hard to paint at such a dizzying height.<\/p>\n

These are only a handful of the federal buildings in DC that feature art — too numerous to list in fact but this gives a good summary and walking tour to follow. One not to miss is The Library of Congress<\/a> Experience <\/a>and it’s murals as well as it’s overall experience. Just view this video and you’ll feel like you’ve gotten the inside perspective and taken a personal tour of their updated exhibition space, which is now fully up and operational.<\/p>\n
