Speaking of hidden murals…This Times Picayune<\/em> article, Clear for Takeoff<\/em><\/a>, by Frank Donze caught my attention. Not only have beautiful, mostly undamaged, historic murals been found during the renovation of a shuttered terminal at the New Orleans Lakefront Airport, but they will be preserved as the airport terminal is restored to it’s original 1940’s grandeur. The style of these murals reminds me of N.C. Wyeth’s<\/a> work, which I really admire. I was able to see a some of his fabulous paintings that were used for several book “illustrations” in the permanent collection at the Farnsworth Museum<\/a>, in Rockland, ME last August.<\/p>\n

On a side note, Alton Ochner Davis must be related to Dr. Alton Ochsner<\/a>, one of the founding members of Ochsner Medical Center<\/a> in New Orleans, where my first son, Piers, was born. My family has had a long association with Ochsner Hospital through my father’s work and my treatment.<\/p>\n
