\"Pentagon<\/a><\/p>\n

Life is hard. I know that’s an understatement, particularly for those who have suffered loss. This is why I am always amazed at people’s resilience to make something beautiful from some sense of destruction, turning their grief into hope. The Pentagon Memorial<\/a> is this very kind of extraordinary art. It is a very moving tribute to those who lost their lives in DC on that horrible September 11th morning in 2001. To me, it looks like bold, moving strokes of light “heading Home.” It’s hard to believe it’s been seven years because it feels very fresh and raw to recall every anniversary. I think those of us who lived through it nearby and even peripherally will always remember it as a life changing experience. Many thanks to the victims’ family members to get this memorial accomplished. It took countless hours and tremendous fundraising but they did it and privately, so it is the only 9\/11 memorial that didn’t get caught up in red tape, thank goodness. This memorial is a welcome tribute for reflection on life and living and those who bring so much joy to the experience of being alive. It brings a sense of closure and completion, finally.<\/p>\n

I’ll enclose here my excerpt<\/a> that was featured with others in The Washington Post<\/em> on the 9\/11 terrorists attacks’ fifth anniversary (4th entry down).
