What’s the traditional symbol for one’s 21st wedding anniversary<\/a>? Trick question. There isn’t one. Nickel and Brass are contemporary symbols for this celebration. Although maybe not nickel or brass, but certainly metal, these trees at The Public<\/a>, an interactive art building in West Bromwich, England, suggest a good fill in. I’ll have to remember this place to visit one day.<\/p>\n

Now I could go off on a tangent about trees and twig art<\/a>:<\/p>\n

But I think I’ll stick on subject. My husband, Peter, and I our celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary. It’s really hard to believe for it doesn’t seem that long. Now, I wanted to profile the artist who created a custom piece for what I call our “golden anniversary” — the one where the number of the anniversary matches the day, but to be fair, I didn’t give her enough heads up time to respond. I’ll have to follow up later. Nonetheless, we wanted to remember this numerically “coincidental” anniversary with something special, so we commissioned Marga Hayes Ingram<\/a> four years ago to create this custom piece and we love it! This “State of Grace” captures exactly what we had envisioned.<\/p>\n

I really appreciate other artists’ artwork and I can’t help but find Marga’s work metaphysical. I agree with her philosophy that “everything is sacred.” Just as marriage is sacred, I would go on to say that some artists’ works can be vehicles for that expression, and I believe Marga’s is.<\/p>\n
