As an artist, I agree with the premise that one needs to have a connection with what one is creating and to the Facebook\/ technology generation (to both of my sons + even my sister\/ business partner, this would apply) the connections seem to be superficial or better said &#8220;friend or not&#8221; &#8212; no black or white in there. Art is all about subtleties and complexities &#8212; for me anyway &#8212; and this takes time, something the technology generation doesn&#8217;t take time to do. I&#8217;m also learning that technology can provide a useful tool but the the foundation has to based in something real, not just digital.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the article worth reading from the <a title=\"Telegraph.UK.com article on computer art\" href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/culture\/culturenews\/5742570\/Computers-should-be-used-to-make-art.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Telegraph.UK.com<\/a>, where The Saatchi Gallery presented a panel of including Grayson Perry, seen here in this video. Now, I was taking them seriously until this artist addressed the audience as &#8220;Little Bo Beep.&#8221; That was just too weird. Where I    struggle is getting a rich enough end product with all the subtlety and    variegation of a handmade artefact.&#8221; OK, it&#8217;s in Brittish speak. I just quoted directly.<\/p>\n<p>Where this comes into play for me is I hand paint all my designs for <a title=\"casart coveings home page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.casartcoverings.com\/home.html\">casart coverings<\/a>. I then scan them to format for printing and in doing so I add different color configurations. I have realized that imperfections can be deleted but I leave some in for character. But more importantly, once scanned and digitized, any design (hand-painted artwork) can be manipulated for <a title=\"casart coverings custom page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.casartcoverings.com\/customize.html\" target=\"_blank\">customization<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, where I don&#8217;t have a lot of technical know how, I have fabuloso photoshop gurus working for me, so this helps tremendously with my learning curve. As I&#8217;ve said before, I&#8217;m learning three new languages, print, web and photoshop and it keeps my brain burning.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not knocking Facebook by the way.
