Murals Made with Unusual Materials

Painted Euros, nails, toothpicks, corks and incredible mosaics are all unusual materials used by artists to create murals.

Although not actual painted Euros but the imagery of painted Euros creates this shark mural by Blu in Barcelona as seen on Colectiva’s Daily Blog.

Saimir Strati creates murals with nails, toothpicks and corks — all sorts of everyday materials. Here’s one as seen on Eller G’s blog of Leonardo. It consists of 500,000 nails and is one of the largest murals of its kind. Click on the above link to see other incredible examples of his work as well as many other interesting sites. I really enjoyed perusing this blog — lots of unusual flora and fauna as well.

I was truly facinated by these beautiful mosaic murals by Mosaika. They are really incredible and innovative with their talent and technology. Their Studio Blog is inspirational.

I'm an artist, wife and mother of two boys. I started my illustration business, The Occasional Palette over 35 years ago, when my oldest son was an infant. Once my children were in school, I began painting decorative, faux finishes and murals through my second business, Casart, now over 30 years old. My third business, Casart Coverings, is a springboard from my second.
