Feeling Friday the 13th
Typically this day has been very unlucky for me in the past but I’m trying to shake that spell. Shaking out the spooks with this desert snake…You never know where you’re going to find art, like in the Las Vegas airport. Here’s a picture of my sister and her kids sitting on some fun sculpture.
Speaking of snakes, this is an interesting take on a hairdo accessory:
Here are some previous postings regarding airport art:
Thinking Outside of the Airport and Art Hotels, which mentions public art at the Orlando airport and other places. And while we’re on the topic, my local Reagan National Airport is home to a lot of public art, primarily noticed as you’re running over floor mosaics to catch your flight. (Disappointingly, there’s nothing about their public art on their website.)
According to this Washington Post mention regarding Cure Bar & Bistro, this bar reminds the writer of an airport lounge. I’ve never seen an airport lounge with a floating piano, but I might like to check it out just for the ambiance.
Some good end-of-week news, according to the National Endowment for the Arts’ census data, there are more working artists than there have been over last 18 years — nearly 2 million. The DC area ranks fourth-highest out of 50 other metropolitan areas in the US.
Hope Friday the 13th flies by and changes to become a lucky day…The weekend is here and that’s good!
