Step-by-step Creativity

I’ve been collecting a lot of material to post and these are some great step-by-step guides on the process for creating various kinds of art. I’m all about the creative process these days and learning a lot about starting a new product-line business and how the creative endeavor can drive a viable, sell-able good. Therein, I’ll mention this blogger, She Dreams in Grids, for I too have been looking for ways to “reuse” and rethink about my art. I like the way she describes her process from the artist’s perspective. Things that are old can appear new when viewed in a different way but how do you get to that new vision? That’s where the creative process comes in. Here are some examples of how to get from A to B or concept to product, and the many tedious, yet painstakingly necessary steps it takes to produce something artistic that has quality and value:

And some rudimentary but useful tips for drawing, always necessary to keep in mind for beginners and all on the Creative Spotlight’s Art Instruction Blog. Drawing is the basis for every good painting.

Casting a “Boy Bubbles” by Cynthia. I didn’t realize about this kind of method for glass:

And if you’re in a rut and just need to make something, here’s how to splat from the Mandalady:

Finally, creativity is more than just creating art. I do believe it’s about one’s approach to problem solving skills and life in general as well as that innate, inexplicable human desire to express oneself, as described on the Keoblog. The thinking-out-of the-box approach can take you far in life.

I'm an artist, wife and mother of two boys. I started my illustration business, The Occasional Palette over 35 years ago, when my oldest son was an infant. Once my children were in school, I began painting decorative, faux finishes and murals through my second business, Casart, now over 30 years old. My third business, Casart Coverings, is a springboard from my second.
