Berlin Wall Murals

This is a week late of the 20 year fall of the Berlin Wall Anniversary but still worthy of a look. Many artists helped to refurbish the murals just in time for the anniversary.

You can read more of the details here on Stars & Stripes.

Another interesting read on Bowl of Serial shows visuals of the many murals depicted on the wall. I’m re-posting two here that I thought were well done. The rest are a bit dark for my taste but considering the subject, they seem appropriate.

When I was listening the to story on the evening news I was surprised to learn that the wall is only 2 bricks thick. This can be seen where the wall has been dismantled and only an architectural palimpsest or ghost of the original bricks remain visible on a busy intersection where the wall used be and the remnants now runs through a coffee shop or local store (as partly seen here on Telegraph UK)

I'm an artist, wife and mother of two boys. I started my illustration business, The Occasional Palette over 35 years ago, when my oldest son was an infant. Once my children were in school, I began painting decorative, faux finishes and murals through my second business, Casart, now over 30 years old. My third business, Casart Coverings, is a springboard from my second.
