Pamela Anderson
No, not that one, but I bet Pamela Anderson, the talented abstract artist in Milwaukee, WI, gets that reference all the time. Funny though, I never brought it up when I spoke with her recently. We had a nice conversation and realized that we both had a New Orleans connection. She had lived there a few years back and we both confessed that we missed the food.
What struck me most about Pamela’s artwork was her vibrant use of color. Some examples below and more can be seen on her website, Paint My Sky.
Pamela also does sculpture as well as figurative work. She participates in an event called Open Canvas in Milwaukee that calls for artists to perform — create their artwork on the spot. When called to duty, she could easily draw Picasso-esque portraits of people, which I’m sure would gather a crowd. Now that I’m connected to these Milwaukee artists I’ll look forward to see what they continue to do.
Not related to the above but this song, Uprising by Muse has been on my mind, particularly in light of the recent health care debate and vote, so I thought it appropriate to post to Kick Start the Weekend.
