Valorie Schleicher

Another Milwaukee artist who I met through my searches is Valorie Schleicher. I was taken with her unusual sculptural form, particularly her Strong Woman series. When I spoke with Valorie, she explained that she had been inspired recently by the death of Alexander Maqueen, who took his life as a result of his mother’s death. It was interesting to us both in that conversation, how this talented fashion designer’s ideas for his designs may have been inspired by his mother and then with her death it was too much for him to bear. Here are just a few of her wonderful sculptures that can also be found on Valorie’s website. She states, “Culture is my Art and inspiration used in my technique and my understanding and exploration of the world around me.

Not only is Valorie quite talented but she has a wealth of connections with other artists and many groups of which she is a member. When I was looking for a source, she was more than happy to try to provide. I appreciate her help and resourcefulness. I look forward to her next sculptural endeavor.

I'm an artist, wife and mother of two boys. I started my illustration business, The Occasional Palette over 35 years ago, when my oldest son was an infant. Once my children were in school, I began painting decorative, faux finishes and murals through my second business, Casart, now over 30 years old. My third business, Casart Coverings, is a springboard from my second.
