Trash to Musical Treasure – the Landfill Harmonic Orchestra

How moving is this? What an incredible program. The Landfill Harmonic Orchestra helps impoverished children in Paraguay make musical instruments from others’ trash that they collect and then teaches them how to play their new found treasures, as part of the Recycled Orchestra. They bring joyful music to all our ears and in the process fill themselves with hope.

This makes me think of one of my favorite movies, The Mission — the power of music instilling grace and hope with a remarkable, inspirational story.

I'm an artist, wife and mother of two boys. I started my illustration business, The Occasional Palette over 35 years ago, when my oldest son was an infant. Once my children were in school, I began painting decorative, faux finishes and murals through my second business, Casart, now over 30 years old. My third business, Casart Coverings, is a springboard from my second.
