    Being Introspective

    The New Year usually brings about a lot of introspection for people, so I thought I’d post three interesting and introspective business articles that can easily pertain to the arts, keeping on track and gearing up for 2010. 1) If you’re thinking of starting your own business or even already have your own company I thought this gave some basic, helpful tips and offered positive reassurance for those already into entrepreneurship,  How to be your own boss, by Laura Cohn, Washington Post: I particularly like the accompanying illustration of the butterfly emerging from its cocoon.     Art of the Cocktail

    Happy New Year! In light of celebrating, I view the perfect cocktail as art, especially one with pure ingredients, made “from scratch,” as we’d say in baking. Not many people, however, go to such extremes to make their own mixers like tonic water, but Todd Thrasher of Restaurant Eve and PX speakeasy (down the street from me), makes sure to take these measures. My husband’s and my favorite cocktail is called The Last Word.     What to Wear

    As a follow up to my art dress, graffiti and the invisible artist posts, here are more examples of what to wear — artistically that is: Chor Boogi not only paints murals, he paints lovely ladies. Evidently Lui Bolin wasn’t the first artist to make himself invisible. I found this on an interesting blog, Butterfly by Day, plus I like the name. It reminds me of casart coverings and our butterflies. I like Susan Sontag’s opening quote on this Veruschka’s website (photo link above).
