Artistry in the High School Graduation Delivery
I just returned from my younger son’s high school graduation. It was a bit stressful and emotional but I was pleasantly surprised in how seriously touching the event was among the teachers and kids. This all came by the heartfelt delivery from teachers and students and participants in this right-of-passage ceremony. The first event, The Angies’s was a roast that the teachers give to each of the Senior students. The teachers sing, dance and read poetry to their advisees. V is for Visitors
“Welcome to the war…It’s us Vs them,” is the tagline in the show V on ABC. I’ve been watching this show since it first aired late last year and I can’t help but think it has parallel meaning. V stands for Visitors — alien visitors that come to earth “in peace” and they happen to look just like normal but beautiful people. The aliens have a convincing PR plan. The people on earth are suspicious and fearful at first but the Visitors act so calm, forthcoming and gracious that they soon earn the people’s trust. How do you celebrate your 21 year old returning home for a few days for spring break? Well after going out to dinner at The Tasting Room, our neighborhood favorite, Piers, Peter and I (all adults) enjoyed the Disney animated movie, Up by Pixar. We loved it. You’re never too old to watch a movie like this. It was funny, with clever wit, had an interesting story line with a masterful unspoken time line in the beginning and the animation is phenomenal. “Even better than a non animated movie,” Piers noted, probably because we were watching it in HD, which I have to say, makes all the difference.
