Village Murals, Podcasts & Pushing Daisies
This is a follow up to my Mysterious Eyes post. I just stumbled upon this image via Visual Culture and I thought it was pretty cool. The original photo credit goes to JR Art Photography. I haven’t been to Rio favela of Providencia in Rio De Janeiro but there appears to be a lot of Googly eyes there. I can resonate with this lately because I’ve been pushing 16 hour + days for months and feeling a little brain fried, punch drunk and googly eyed — more like bleary eyed myself these days. I finally got a chance to listen to Rosh and Deans’ Prosperous Artists Podcast from September 17th…
Wall Street
These are two artistic photos regarding Wall Street printed with the Aftershocks story, front page of Outlook in the Washington Post on Sunday. The first is by Stan Honida/Getty Images. It really gives the sense of chaos and that whirling, out-of-control, dizzying sensation that the activity on the New York Stock Exchange has had of late. I also liked this one below, featured with the article by Eric D. Hovde on blaming the culprits. More than what this art is about, I thought it very interesting that this was an innovative way for the public to express their frustration and in doing so, contribute the to process of making public…
Optical Illusions
I loved this post from the Crooked Brains Blog regarding illusions. What a creative way to take pictures. I thought it fitting after September 11th to post this picture, originally by Michael Hughes in 1999 of the Twin Towers as depicted in a postcard that is transposed over what is no longer there — before they collapsed. Check out the art archives for more interesting photos that will wow you — especially that cork mural. NOW I know what to do with all those corks that I’ve been saving.
