The Longest Proposed Mural
Michael Dingler of NoLA Rising is proposing to paint the flood wall along the 9th ward with a mural. If accepted it will be the longest mural in the world. This would not be a graffiti-style mural but wouldn’t guarantee against being tagged. Nothing is for that matter. Although, having painted public murals, Golden makes a top coat, anti-graffiti sealant (MSA) that protects the mural with an isolation coat. If it is tagged, the top coat can be removed without damaging the mural below the isolation coat. I’ve used this as an extra protective measure, just in case. Convergence
Wow! All I can say is that lecture last Friday by David Stork was phenomenal! I learned so much about the convergence of art and science to prove non-optical methods of master artists. He debunked Hockney’s theory that great painters from the 1430’s on “cheated” by tracing optical reflections in their paintings. I didn’t know how the lecture was going to go. I was happy that I made the 120 person cut by about 30 people in the double line. I just received the latest issue of my high school alumni magazine and there is an article mentioning most all of my early art teachers. It’s so nice to see them together getting the recognition they deserve and for me to reflect on how important they were in my life. Mrs. Fitzpatrick (grammar school), Mrs. Timmerick and Mrs. Boone (middle and high school) were my main teachers and each had different teaching styles and talents but their influence was a major impact on me wanting to be an artist.
