    Lexington

    I am sure there is a lot of art in Lexington, but we were only there briefly and passing through to really discover it and take it in. However, I really like this blue horse painting on the cover of the Lexington, KY Visitor Planning Guide 2009. And these horse sculptures greeted us as we entered the city. On the drive to Danville, we went by our son Jackson’s friend’s house — very cool, edgy and artsy. You’d never know it was a residence from the outside.     Rebel’s Rest

    We just returned recently from picking up our son from his school in Sewanee, TN. We were fortunate to stay at Rebel’s Rest — an on campus inn for alumni, guests and travelers. I was pleased with the quiet, cozy ambiance and the artwork captured the essence of overlooking the bluff. As the University had just ended it’s school session, we’ll have to check back in the fall to finally see those restored watercolors of the domain.

    &…Looking Back

    I just received the latest issue of my high school alumni magazine and there is an article mentioning most all of my early art teachers. It’s so nice to see them together getting the recognition they deserve and for me to reflect on how important they were in my life. Mrs. Fitzpatrick (grammar school), Mrs. Timmerick and Mrs. Boone (middle and high school)  were my main teachers and each had different teaching styles and talents but their influence was a major impact on me wanting to be an artist.
