    Back to School & Mysterious Eyes

    Coming back from dropping off our younger son at his school, we saw these pretty cool, googly eyes starring at us from across the Worlds Fair Park in Knoxville, TN. They are affixed to the Knoxville Museum of Art, with their motto, “Open your eyes. Open your mind.” How true. I actually liked how these eyes appeared watchful over the park. They didn’t seem eerie just artistic, but they did seem to follow us…We had another great stay in Knoxville on our way home from Sewanee, TN.     Knoxville

    Traveling from Sewanee, TN to Alexandria, VA takes close to 11 hours. We decided to take an overnight pit-stop in Knoxville, TN to break up the drive on the way back home. We stayed in a contemporary hotel overlooking World Fair Park. The town was pretty quiet (maybe due to the holiday) but very pleasant. There were a lot of artistic things to see: The World Fair Tower, amphitheater, Bellagio-like fountains, pocket art parks near Market Street and surprising sculptures right in the heart of downtown. I liked how this Trio restaurant wrapped their air ducts in purple velour to make them part of their modern decor. What a clever…
