Knoxville

Traveling from Sewanee, TN to Alexandria, VA takes close to 11 hours. We decided to take an overnight pit-stop in Knoxville, TN to break up the drive on the way back home. We stayed in a contemporary hotel overlooking World Fair Park. The town was pretty quiet (maybe due to the holiday) but very pleasant. There were a lot of artistic things to see: The World Fair Tower, amphitheater, Bellagio-like fountains, pocket art parks near Market Street and surprising sculptures right in the heart of downtown.

I liked how this Trio restaurant wrapped their air ducts in purple velour to make them part of their modern decor. What a clever coverup.

I'm an artist, wife and mother of two boys. I started my illustration business, The Occasional Palette over 35 years ago, when my oldest son was an infant. Once my children were in school, I began painting decorative, faux finishes and murals through my second business, Casart, now over 30 years old. My third business, Casart Coverings, is a springboard from my second.
