    As I’ve said before, one never knows where they might find art. This posting started with the weekly check of my older son’s college, UVA’s Pictures of the Week. There was a lecture at the Architecture School given on March 19th by Bill Fontana, who is a pioneer in the art of Sound Sculptures. This is incredibly interesting to me, not just the subject, which I think is fascinating because sound, similar to smell can evoke such deeply alluring and long forgotten memories, but the pathways of me finding this post.     What’s the best medicine for a hectic week, being sick, and just an stressful month in general — besides a cocktail? Humor! I have a million and one things I could post but I can’t think of anything that would bring more of a smile than these funny yet clever, trompe l’oeil murals on the Visual Funhouse blog, which explores everything that has to do with optical illusions.     Think Outside of the Airport!

    When I first saw this image in the Washington Post, I thought these were modern-day, Egyptian Hieroglyphs, but no, they are the architectural diagrams of airport terminals. This is something I have seen but take for granted every time I fly. However, I thought this was so creative to recognize that these airport silhouettes could be conceived as artistic designs. Charles Cohan, a printmaker and art professor in Hawaii, who travels quite a bit, noticed these shapes in the back of many airline magazines. He’s collected 62 and has made 90 plates.
