Designer Show House for the Richmond Symphony Orchestra
Rothesay, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra League’s Designer Show House, is well worth the trip. My husband and I took a four hour round trip road trip to Richmond on a crisp, fall-like Sunday to view Mary Douglas Drysdale’s room in the RSOL Designer Show House. We arrived early to meet Mary there so we could take some pictures. Getting there before it opened to the public, allowed us to meet the day crew captain and volunteer staff and help them by turning on all of the lights in all of the rooms. Interior Combination
I was so excited to see this photo below in Traditional Home’s March issue. I had written about David Trubridge’s Geometric Spheres before and I was happy to see them being used as lighting fixtures in Barry Dixon’s latest Greenspace, interior design project. It was a design show house that took place in McLean, VA that I didn’t get a chance to see, so I’m really glad to read about it here. I’m always struck by ways art can combine with design, for I think the two are integrable. This is a good example. Trash to Treasure
The inspiration for this Trash to Treasure post came by way of email and I wish there was a credit, as the pictures are fabulous! The original email mentioned that the origami artist, Won Park, who I wrote about in my last post, was supposed to also live in this truck. He does not. This truck is more a demonstration of design genius rather than art, but again, design and art are related.
