Andrew Wyeth
Andrew Wyeth viewed his work as abstract, the realism just happened to be his style. Sadly, this great iconographic figure of contemporary American painting died in his sleep on Friday, January 16th at his home in Chadds Ford, PA. This New York Times Obituary by Michael Kimmelman gives a very good overview. I was very saddened to hear this news. I’ve always been spellbound by Andrew Wyeth’s art, in fact N.C. Wyeth’s too (his father’s — illustrative quality and luminous color), and I’m coming around to Jamie’s (his son’s — a little too macabre for me, however, yet quite talented like his forefathers, nonetheless). Poznan
Here are some photos that my husband took at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (also known as COP, Conference of Parties) in Poznan, Poland. This town turned out to be very artsy. A “Christo-like” public-art commentary using figurines to suggest those affected by climate change. Among the contemporary artwork, Poznan maintains its Old World environment and charm. Architecture of the town square clock tower is quite stunning. Everyone comes out to see the goats but heads at the midday hour. Not sure what it all means but some fanciful mural work. I really like these door panels as a possible idea for something similar one day. Inspiration always comes…
