    Rock’n Bowl’s new digs

    Since I just returned from New Orleans last evening, I thought I’d post about the Rock’n Bowl’s new digs. Fortunately, the murals moved with them. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get there to view them myself this trip, but there’s always next time. It was a great trip back to my hometown with a lot of work, meetings and of course eating. I always miss the food the most. We broke in the middle of the trip to drive to Blue Mountain beach right outside of Destin, Florida, for the weekend with my extended family. I’ll post more about this later. I have a busy day to play catch up.

    Longest Mural in DC

    Graffiti art usually isn’t my thing, but seeing this mural that is being painted in DC helped open my eyes to some real talent. Firstly, spray paint is a hard medium to control. I have used it for a bunch of my decorative painting projects. It takes skill to get this kind of refinement in some sections of this mural. Secondly, these artists are helping to revitalize a rather downtrodden area. Dan Zach describes the five artists Collective Vision in his article, Let’s Spray.     Rockefeller Center

    The Art Deco murals at Rockefeller Center in New York are being restored. The conservators are working so quietly behind the scenes that if they sneeze they may spook someone. It’s pretty incredible the before and after, once all the yellowed varnish and grime has been removed.
