Cyclorama
The first cyclorama — mural in the round — that I ever saw was in Mesdag in the Hague. My good friend, Liza showed it to me and it opened my eyes to ways murals can be viewed. This one was painted by Hendrik Willem Mesdag in the 18th century. When Vincent Van Gogh saw it in 1881, he said, “Panorama Mesdag is the most beautiful sensation of my life. Beautification
I am so pressed for time that I don’t have time to write anything for today, so I’ll post an article that Marty DeVine wrote for the Alexandria Times, regarding the Beautification Awards given by the City of Alexandria, VA this past Wednesday evening. My neighborhood school, Jefferson Houston, where I painted a 50 foot long mural on multiple panels, received the only public school award for beautification. Village Murals, Podcasts & Pushing Daisies
This is a follow up to my Mysterious Eyes post. I just stumbled upon this image via Visual Culture and I thought it was pretty cool. The original photo credit goes to JR Art Photography. I haven’t been to Rio favela of Providencia in Rio De Janeiro but there appears to be a lot of Googly eyes there.
