    Transparency…

    …in butterflies that is. These transparent butterflies are beautiful and since I like butterflies and one is part of my Casart coverings logo, here are some unusual ones that I didn't know about to view. If we ever make it to Panama (on the places to travel list), I'll know what to keep my eyes peeled for. TRANSPARENT BUTTERFLY It comes from Central America and is found from Mexico to Panama.     Koi

    Well, I missed the fish floundering at the Koi sell-off at the National Arboretum. I would have been there had I owned a backyard pond, like I always wanted. I love these koi and absolutely had no idea that collecting and selling them due to overcrowding was an annual event. They even caught "Big Mama" one of the oldest and largest, three feet long. That must have been that shark-like fish, as the wave rolled by, that scared you from getting too close to the edge.     Art in Bloom

    I’m always inspired by artists who brave the crowds to create their artwork. It’s something that I do not like to do, but this “plein air,” landscape artist, Michela Mansuino, featured last week in the Washington Post, has managed to not only control her experience with multitudes of onlookers but capture the magic of the cherry blossoms in her paintings. She’s been painting at the same spot for four years. The cherry blossoms are nearly gone now, but the moment they existed is immortalized in this painting.
