Oil Spill
As news of the BP oil spill off the coast of Louisiana became more severe, I have become more worried about the impact — both environmentally and economically. These folks have just gotten back on their feet since Katrina. It just seems like they have a magnet for bad blows. This however, could impact the entire nation's seafood industry as well as the eco-system in the wetlands for years to come. This makes me sad but hopeful that this is not the case. Mother’s Day Tribute
It was a working weekend for me and my husband so I didn’t get to spend Mother’s Day as I would like, plus it’s a bittersweet celebration for me for me to remember from 2 years past — just seems like yesterday. Although, I did get to paint a painting in tribute to my mother. It is after one of the camellias in her New Orleans garden. I think it’s name is Cherries Jubilee — how appropriately Southern. Making a Grand Entrance
I've been wanting to post this photo of Olafur Eliasson's latest work and although I've been enjoying it, it's finally time to move it from my desktop to this space. Take Your Time is meant to literally bring the viewer or as Eliasson says, "the user," into the creative, interactive experience. It was on view at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney Australia. The premise of Eliasson's work is to involve the user — beyond just gaining admiration for the piece and the artist' ability — but that goes without saying here.
