We took a trek to Charlottesville, VA to visit our son Piers, who as president of his fraternity at UVA and was hosting parents during an Open House. We arrived just in time to hear him give his speech. He did a great job with a commanding performance. I was very proud of him for what he has already accomplished. I’m starting to see him as the adult he is and it’s a fulfilling moment in a parent’s life. It brings a whole other dynamic to the relationship. Jeffersonian Pavilion
I learned a little about one of my son’s school this weekend in the Real Estate section of the Washington Post when one of the Jeffersonian Pavilions on the main campus of University of Virginia was featured. Larry Sabato lives in this stately pavilion and was awarded these living quarters due to his academic tenure. He is the Robert Kent Gooch Professor of Politics and director of the university’s Center for Politics. It’s a prestigious location and it was interesting to learn how the residential honor comes and goes to those living in this “Academical Village.” I’ve long been impressed by the grand architecture at UVA.
