Rainbow Wood
When I saw this picture of striped, rainbow-colored, wooden bowls in my April issue of House Beautiful magazine, I was immediately reminded that I have a similarly designed coffee spoon that I use everyday, thanks to Aunt Sue. I never really thought of it artistically but its design is just that and a woodcraft artisan must have made it. Again, art and design, in this case functional art, combined. Jeffersonian Pavilion
I learned a little about one of my son’s school this weekend in the Real Estate section of the Washington Post when one of the Jeffersonian Pavilions on the main campus of University of Virginia was featured. Larry Sabato lives in this stately pavilion and was awarded these living quarters due to his academic tenure. He is the Robert Kent Gooch Professor of Politics and director of the university’s Center for Politics.
