    Trash to Treasure

    The inspiration for this Trash to Treasure post came by way of email and I wish there was a credit, as the pictures are fabulous! The original email mentioned that the origami artist, Won Park, who I wrote about in my last post, was supposed to also live in this truck. He does not.  This truck is more a demonstration of design genius rather than art, but again, design and art are related. You would never think this vehicle is any more than just a typical, everyday trash truck from the outside, but what a treasure on the inside.     Photo-Realistic Portraiture

    I didn’t post any portrait photography in my last post because mostly Nature and animals were highlighted as the best pictures but I think portraiture is much harder to capture in photography. I find it interesting that this artist, Korin Faught, uses photography as part of her creative process to manipulate and create just the right moody reference for her oil painted portraits. More portraits can be seen at the opening of her exhibition last summer in Los Angeles via Juxtapoz and at Lost In a Supermarket. I enjoy some of her work and it’s photo-realistic quality.     Magical Sketches

    Going back to my Monday post where I mention casart coverings is using styleboards to show our designs in interactive interior layouts, this post is about the ultimate “storyboard.” There is advancing technology that takes your sketches and translates them into actual pictures comprised of photo composites taken from the Internet. The software was originally called PhotoSketch and then changed to Sketch2Photo to avoid conflict with another product’s similar name. The authors are Chinese students from Tsinghua University and the National University of Singapore. They are applying for a patent so as far as I can tell, this is not available yet but once it is, it could prove revolutionary…
