Églomisé
I didn’t know this technique had a name but it’s called églomisé. It’s the process of removing and/or painting over the silvering from the back of a mirror to produce a print, figurative patterning and or simulating an aging process. I was struck by the coral prints on these mirrors used by interior designer Amanda Nesbit in the Ocean 3 Showhouse, featured in Traditional Home’s March issue. They come from Soicher Marin but I wish I knew more. I really like the colors she used as well. Urban Design Elegance & Science of Light
The Washington DC Design Center’s new Design House has just opened with the theme, Urban Elegance, on view. I hope to get by and see it (April 24 – June 25). It’s usually inspirational and tends to validate decorative ideas that I have been following and or have used. The DC Design House is another interior design exhibition of sorts. A client of mine tells me it is very worthwhile attending (April 18 – May 10) and proceeds benefit the Children’s Medical Center. Home Decor Salon
Following up from the post on Eddie Ross’ booths at the New Orleans Home & Garden Show (NOHGS), are other interior designer booths. The title of the show was “Design Your Life” and it had an interior design focus. We were lucky that our booth was directly across from the following designer booths. The description for each room is from the NOHGS Guide, supplied by the designers, and in the order in which they were listed. I’ve linked the designers to where they have websites.
