Italian Latte & Paper
Going from one of my favorite Italian Master artists, I thought I could use a pick-me-up (tiramisu), but instead of dessert, why not latte art (?), and consequently, this design remind me of Italian paper…Are these just rambling thoughts or typical connections of someone with an artistic bent? Iraq’s New Flag + Photo Contest & Film Festival
Iraq has issued a call to artists in and outside of Iraq to design the country’s new flag. There is still controversy over the current flag that was voted on in January. The three stars from the regime of Saddam Hussein’s days were stripped but the Arabic script for “God is great” was left in the current design but represented in a different way. Design House Impressions
I was finally able to make it last week to the Spring ’08 Design House at the Washington DC Design Center before it closed on Saturday. I was prepared for it not to be that inspirational but once there, I thought otherwise. Here are my impressions: 1) The Entry was bright and bold capturing the theme of Color. From a distance it looked fine but up close I was surprised at how much prominent “bleeding” was visible on each of the horizontal stripes. It’s almost impossible to not get bleeding when taping off and painting stripes but this requires going back and “touching up” — painting over all those bleeds…
