    Watercolor Interiors

I really wish I could see this exhibit at the Cooper Hewitt on House Proud: Watercolor Interiors from the Thaw Collection.  All of the 71 interior watercolors in the exhibit are exquisite in detail. The exhibit showcases commissioned interior watercolors by European families during the 19th century and gives the viewer the inside perspective on their way of living. It’s on view until January 25th.

Two Men and a Wardrobe is the film that was produced from this “experiment” and uses inhabitants of Warsaw as part of the show in the attempt to show how confinement can create a sense of identity. I like the photo, myself, but the cold feeling that this photo emits makes me think of “hot tub.”

There are over 80 artists exhibiting in areas scattered throughout the city but mostly in the warehouse district. There are also satellite exhibits. It is considered the largest international art biennial in the United States. There’s been a lot written up about it in the local Times Picayune newspaper but only one or two mentions in the Washington Post, so I’m not sure how much national acclaim it is really getting. There is a lot…
