    Magnetic Movie

    This is a follow up to a previous post that I wrote about the Magnetic Movie in September on exhibits regarding the “faux” documentary about magnetic fields and how they relate to real scientists’ discoveries regarding the Semiconductor. It can be seen in the “Black Box” at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden through December 14th. I’ll have to not only check out this movie before it leaves but also the After Hours at the Hirshhorn, which I had on my list but completely missed this year. The last one was November 7th.     Master Marbelizer

    I am very admiring of true master, decorative painters and even more so when they have an association with the National Gallery of Art, my favorite museum, old stopping ground and where I used to work. Glen Perry was interviewed recently by John Pancake of the Washington Post. He was asked about his ability to render faux marble for the Pompeii exhibit.     A couple exhibits

    Happy Halloween! After all the hubbub is over, here are a couple of fall art exhibits worth visiting: 1) Pompeii and the Roman Villa, National Gallery of Art, through March 22, 2009 Here are two background stories in the Washington Post, worth reading: Day of Wrath and coincidentally on the same day, Villas Come Alive 2,000 Years After Vesuvius (in the Travel Section). I have always liked the frescoes at Stabiae. I am bewildered how they survived the destruction at Pompeii. The recreation of the Villa San Marco is just incredible. Makes me want to go visit NOW.
