    I am a big fan of Radiohead. I don’t know all their songs, however, and I used to not “get” their music until I listened more carefully. Both my husband and my son Jackson turned me on to them. I like them because they are innovative — not only in their art but also in their marketing. They recently posted “stems” of their music on iTunes to be used creatively and rearranged into other music by the purchaser. Because they still maintain the copyright or ownership (as artists do of their original artwork), they prohibit the reselling of their music. Instead, they are offering a remix contest for the new…

    Here’s a list of September into fall exhibits. As I’m getting down to the wire on introducing my new product line, I hope I’ll have time to visit most of them. They bring a lot of inspiration. 1) Last chance — Blue at the Textile Museum through September 18th. 2) The Alexandria Festival of the Arts is September 13 – 14. The festival really does look like this photo that I found at Alexandria Daily Photo, where Marie McC has captured a year’s worth of pictures in a video that accurately portrays Alexandria, VA and Old Town.     Unusual Media

    Here’s a collection of unusual media for art and some weird — out of the ordinary — concepts for creating art. 1) Kaleidoscope Art: This sparkling Take Your Time Exhibit by Olafur Eliasson at the Dallas Museum of Art. The artist shows the affects of filtered glass and stainless steel but more importantly he’s interested in the “intersection of nature and science” and uses five criteria for his “walk in kaleidoscopes”: mirrors, light, manipulation of landscape, use of scientific materials and methods, and photographs of Iceland to create a unique experience for each viewer. 2) Pincushion Art: at the Dallas Museum of Art.
