Old Artwork
This is an old painting I did of my yard in New Orleans. Since I live in a townhouse now with no side light, it’s my version of a kitchen window, placed over the sink. It brings back fond memories and I’d never want to change it, but it has inspired me to paint another image from my Maine trip this summer and back it to a real salvaged window. Everyday Sites
I’m a member of the King Street Gardens Park, pictured here. It’s the first thing one sees as they enter Old Town, Alexandria from the west gateway, along King Street. I see this park almost daily and whenever I’m in my car, which is where I happened to be coming back from the paint store. The park is lovely in the spring but I had never noticed, particularly in the winter, the contrast that the bark of the birch trees made with the background vines, which now fully envelop the topiary structure and create a screen. Welcome! This is my first post. I started this blog to show that Art is Everywhere. Sometimes we see it. Sometimes we don’t but when we do, it can be in the most mundane places. I have always been fascinated by the process of art and how artists get their inspiration. Through fairly frequent postings, I hope to show some examples of artistic inspiration, as I rely on this for my work and creative living.
