Did I mention that I love popup books? I think I did. Peter, my husband, and I were able to finally see the Paper Engineering exhibit at the National Museum of American Art before it closed. I mentioned it in a recent post. I was fascinated with the history of popups and the terminology. Thursdays at Twilight
Alright, it’s Friday, but when my mother told me about her latest Thursday at Twilight venture at the New Orleans Botanical Gardens in City Park, I just had to write about it. This is an ongoing concert series that she and many other New Orleanians of all backgrounds attend. It’s a beautiful spot too. Last Thursday was Motown. It was sold out. She and her friends (all @ 70+ and many have lost their husbands) got up to dance. There were whites, blacks, old and young, wealthy and middle class people there all enjoying a good time. All dancing and sharing mint juleps. I asked her, “Where were the reporters?”…
Body Art Wonder
Look closely to see what is hidden. I recently learned about Emma Hack, the Australian artist through the blog Existing Visual (from previous Wednesday’s post) and I was surprised to learn that body painting can be taken to the next level with her wonderful talent. See her website for more mesmerizing images. Her art is pretty remarkable, particularly her pattern work. I can’t help but love the blue butterflies, since it’s my signature image.
