Some Healing in Haiti
The earthquake in Haiti rocked everyone. It was so tragic and still is because there has not been much relief for this already poor and downtrodden country. The process for recovery is so slow. However, when I saw this story about art helping business in Haiti it brought a little bright spot of hope for some progression. The Haitian people are familiar with these brightly painted buses and to see them back again signals some sign of recovery with the business of painting buses, as small and as mundane as that seems in comparison to other dire necessities needed. We took a trek to Charlottesville, VA to visit our son Piers, who as president of his fraternity at UVA and was hosting parents during an Open House. We arrived just in time to hear him give his speech. He did a great job with a commanding performance. I was very proud of him for what he has already accomplished. I’m starting to see him as the adult he is and it’s a fulfilling moment in a parent’s life. It brings a whole other dynamic to the relationship. Health Care
“I lived in a time in which there was liberty in America…” This is what I’ll be telling my grand kids. I normally don’t offer political commentary in my blog. There is a time and a place and with the recent Obama health care bill passage, now is the time. If there is one issue that I have felt strongly about (as so many others do), this is it.
