Traveling in Style
Is there an art to traveling? There seems to be with these mentions regarding “The Fine Art Yacht,” a new style of camper and wedding buses in India. My oldest son was working at the Chart House restaurant in Alexandria, VA and saw the Expoship’s Seafair Grand Luxe, a new 228 foot yacht on the Potomac River. It is a venue for a traveling, international art exposition and there’s application kit for exhibitors. The Chart House has a great view and everyone was staring. Iraq’s New Flag + Photo Contest & Film Festival
Iraq has issued a call to artists in and outside of Iraq to design the country’s new flag. There is still controversy over the current flag that was voted on in January. The three stars from the regime of Saddam Hussein’s days were stripped but the Arabic script for “God is great” was left in the current design but represented in a different way. Unusual Places to find Art
Some of us may take these mundane, everyday objects for granted: window screens, cornfields, power boxes and water and storage tanks. Huh? Yep, artists can use anything as a canvas. In fact, there’s a major juried competition coming up (see below). There is an exhibition this weekend called “Rowhouse Rembrandts,” where the artists have painted window screens in the Baltimore area. Its kinda kitschy but fun. I’m curious to know what paints they use on metal and to outlast the elements, especially when they window wash those screens during spring cleaning?
