How do art and design differ? Hard question because worthwhile art, I feel, requires good design and composition but design is a subcategory of art and can be an entity onto itself. Home decor and interior design can be artistic, due to the creative nature in which man conceives and makes it, but is it art? My belief is that when stand-out design is recognized on its own then it is art. Nature’s Jewelry
I like U Street, but I really like this jewelry more. I realize the trend is everything “Green” and not just the color; however, this piece is beautiful because of the color and reminds me how Nature can be so inspirational to artists. Evidently the lotus flower symbolizes rebirth and resurrection. What is Art?
What is art? That’s an age old question isn’t it because art is subjective and means different things to different people. First, here’s the Webster’s Dictionary definition of art: “The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.” This begs the question is all art beautiful? I think it’s for the individual to decide but typically the artist wants to create something that impacts and connects with the viewer, whether it’s beauty or evoking a raw emotion.
