    Icebergs

    Before I begin this post, I just have to say there was nothing cold about the Saints winning yesterday’s NFL championship. It was a tense, heated game and I’m not even a football fan but this is my hometown team and after all New Orleans has been through, the team, the city, and the people deserve it! Superbowl, here we come…..! Nature’s Art. These Icebergs are really beautiful and awe inspiring in that they are not man-made.     HDR Photography

    I didn’t know much about High Dynamic Range type of photography and was glad to learn through the picture links below. The surrealistic, hyper saturation of color may not be for everyone but I’m pretty fascinated how a photo can look more like an illustration with this method. What first alerted me to HDR was this article about Joe DeGregorio’s photos. I really did think this was an illustration. Since I’m into trompe l’oeil art, I get a kick out of when I get tromped…..     Photo-Realistic Portraiture

    I didn’t post any portrait photography in my last post because mostly Nature and animals were highlighted as the best pictures but I think portraiture is much harder to capture in photography. I find it interesting that this artist, Korin Faught, uses photography as part of her creative process to manipulate and create just the right moody reference for her oil painted portraits. More portraits can be seen at the opening of her exhibition last summer in Los Angeles via Juxtapoz and at Lost In a Supermarket. I enjoy some of her work and it’s photo-realistic quality. The Chinoiserie one above reminds me of Sargent’s painting, Repose, in style but…
