    Poznan

    Here are some photos that my husband took at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (also known as COP, Conference of Parties) in Poznan, Poland. This town turned out to be very artsy. A “Christo-like” public-art commentary using figurines to suggest those affected by climate change. Among the contemporary artwork, Poznan maintains its Old World environment and charm. Architecture of the town square clock tower is quite stunning. Everyone comes out to see the goats but heads at the midday hour. Not sure what it all means but some fanciful mural work. I really like these door panels as a possible idea for something similar one day. Inspiration always comes…

    Back to School & Mysterious Eyes

    Coming back from dropping off our younger son at his school, we saw these pretty cool, googly eyes starring at us from across the Worlds Fair Park in Knoxville, TN. They are affixed to the Knoxville Museum of Art, with their motto, “Open your eyes. Open your mind.” How true. I actually liked how these eyes appeared watchful over the park. They didn’t seem eerie just artistic, but they did seem to follow us…We had another great stay in Knoxville on our way home from Sewanee, TN.     Aspen & Many Sides of Nature

    It’s Labor Day, why do any work? My husband went to Aspen, CO recently and was able to get some hiking time in between conferences. Here are some pictures he took. Nature’s beauty abounds but so does the mural map juxtaposed against the mountainous backdrop. While these photos make me want to be there and are certainly inspirational for sketching, I am worried and my mind is focused on Hurricane Gustav. I’m having eerie flashbacks from three years ago — just a few days past Hurricane Katrina. Fortunately, my mother and brother and his wife have evacuated early this time.
