Is there an art to traveling? There seems to be with these mentions regarding “The Fine Art Yacht,” a new style of camper and wedding buses in India. My oldest son was working at the Chart House restaurant in Alexandria, VA and saw the Expoship’s Seafair Grand Luxe, a new 228 foot yacht on the Potomac River. It is a venue for a traveling, international art exposition and there’s application kit for exhibitors. The Chart House has a great view and everyone was staring. Sewanee Scenes
Sewanee, TN is picturesque and in many ways Arcadia. Being the birthplace to The University of the South, where my husband and I attended college and the location for St. Andrews-Sewanee School, where our son attends. We have more excuses to return to our alma mater now. With good friends and family and recollections of our history there, we always feel like we’re going home. We soak up the serenity and are always sad to leave but feel the call back to the activity of the city. Knoxville
Traveling from Sewanee, TN to Alexandria, VA takes close to 11 hours. We decided to take an overnight pit-stop in Knoxville, TN to break up the drive on the way back home. We stayed in a contemporary hotel overlooking World Fair Park. The town was pretty quiet (maybe due to the holiday) but very pleasant. There were a lot of artistic things to see: The World Fair Tower, amphitheater, Bellagio-like fountains, pocket art parks near Market Street and surprising sculptures right in the heart of downtown. I liked how this Trio restaurant wrapped their air ducts in purple velour to make them part of their modern decor. What a clever…
