Every now and then, I’m struck by something different when doing an everyday activity. I discovered PIE Studio through one of my Linkedin groups’ discussions, where we were all introducing ourselves. I clicked on the link and was pleasantly taken by surprise. It happened to be Earth Day, so the index to PIE’s (Product Import Export) site was very appropriate and I thought clever, and even humorous. This persuaded me to peruse their site. Painted Cakes & CityZen
I wish I was a food writer so I could describe the most incredibly delectable meal my husband and I experienced at CityZen at the Mandarin Hotel. It was pure food-as-art perfection, even with the sea urchin, which I can happily say I’ve braved that but won’t be having again. What Chef Eric Ziebold did with it was extraordinary, serving it with a garlic flavored flan that was divine, but even though it looked cooked, the texture was so slimy that I thought I had eaten something on the Survivor challenge and passed. Walt Disney at NOMA
With the Saints in the news and now going to the Superbowl, all posts this week will just have to be about New Orleans in some way or another. Hey, not hard for me (previous posts on New Orleans). The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) is featuring an exhibit of conceptual art from Walt Disney’s animated films called,“Dreams Come True: Art of the Classic Fairy Tales from the Walt Disney Studio.” It includes 600 sketches and animation stills from select films dating back more than seven decades.
