    Interesting June 2010 Art Exhibits

    Breaking from my backlog of murals to quickly post a list of a few interesting exhibits: 1) Art Drawings from Cancer Diagnosis by the late Alex Todorovich — Joan Hisaoka Gallery on U Street, DC –Although, sadly, I never got around to seeing this (just ended on June 19), I thought it was a wonderful take on remaining positive while in the state of deep reflective thinking when we are dealt with such circumstances. — For some reason her work reminds me of Marga Hayes Ingram with it’s symbolism. 2) Read My Pins: The Madeline Albright Collection — Smithsonian Castle, DC through October 11 –This one I want to see…

    Pamela Anderson

    No, not that one, but I bet Pamela Anderson, the talented abstract artist in Milwaukee, WI, gets that reference all the time. Funny though, I never brought it up when I spoke with her recently. We had a nice conversation and realized that we both had a New Orleans connection. She had lived there a few years back and we both confessed that we missed the food.     Photo-Realistic Portraiture

    I didn’t post any portrait photography in my last post because mostly Nature and animals were highlighted as the best pictures but I think portraiture is much harder to capture in photography. I find it interesting that this artist, Korin Faught, uses photography as part of her creative process to manipulate and create just the right moody reference for her oil painted portraits. More portraits can be seen at the opening of her exhibition last summer in Los Angeles via Juxtapoz and at Lost In a Supermarket. I enjoy some of her work and it’s photo-realistic quality.
