Bus Stops
The architectural design in the last post reminds me of these unusual bus stops as seen on Toxel.com: Now this would be the kind of bus stop I would like. I’d rather be moving than waiting. So now I’m thinking of Swing music to Kick Start the weekend. What better than Zoot Suit Riot by Cherry Poppin’ Daddies:
Outdoors in Architecture
Bringing the outdoors in I think would create a great work environment because you’d never feel couped up inside. Here’s an example of the Selgas Cano Architecture Office in Spain as seen on Arch Daily. I like how the color delineates the interior space as to what is open and what is covered space. Very clever use of design. This is an interesting dichotomy coming back from Sewanee where everything is all about the outdoors. This architecture seems to combine the best of both worlds, albeit in a very modern way.
Imagine Coney Island
This is perfect for a visionary but wacky week. I found this cool link of possible revitalization photos of Coney Island, the famous adventure-land, amusement park in Brooklyn, NY, from Curbed, which linked me to ImagineConey. Here is where there have be over 250 ideas submitted to architects, engineers, amusement designers and creative producers as they plan for Coney Island’s future. The public exhibit was recently on view through March 12th, but this web link has many background sources through the Municipal Arts Society (MAS), and you can still submit your ideas! It’s interesting to me to see the public’s interactive involvement in this creative process.
